The simple facts about weight loss

The simple facts about weight loss

What causes weight gain? Ask anyone this question and the answers will be varied and often entertaining.

The simple answer is to gain or lose weight because food intake is not balanced with digestion and metabolism.

We all need food, but what we eat, how much we eat and when we eat directly affects our health.

Food intake

The GBP billion / $ "diet" industry would have us believe that if "watch your weight" was "thin quicker." Highlighted in foods low in calories, low in fat and artificially sweetened drinks are manufactured and sold to you. Many of these foods are sold at reasonable prices - this is to ensure that you develop the habit of buying on a regular basis to feel they are following "diet."

Have you ever noticed that customers browsing through the "diet" aisle of supermarkets often overweight compared to buying raw food to cook / prepare at home?

Have you noticed that people who drink "diet" not only are obese and overweight, but often?
WHY?

Low calorie diets do not work - the reason is that if your calorie intake is less than reasonable for your body type and lifestyle, your metabolism will slow down (slow metabolism does not use many calories). Your body goes into "starvation mode" that is trying to live on limited resources being supplied. Yes, you can lose weight at first, but a slight increase in calories will cause weight gain as the stores in your body as fat, extra calories when food is scarce again (the diet that coming!) The cycle continues ... you start yo-yo dieting and eventually store more fat and more as a result.

Diets low in fat can be dangerous. We all need fat in our diet - I would die without enough fat. The brain is a fatty body and many of our vital organs are essential protective layer of fat around them (kidneys, nerves, etc)

Beware of foods labeled "low in saturated fat." These foods may be slightly lower in saturated fat than the regular product, but may have added extra types of fat as trans fat. Trans fats are unsaturated fats, but can cause more damage to the body than saturated fats. (There is always the temptation to eat a low fat product, and I think it's healthy ... is likely to end up eating much more than they had initially chosen the regular product.)

Diet drinks are dangerous! The best advice anyone can take is to avoid all diet drinks. These drinks are sweetened with artificial sweeteners and often have zero calories. That cause rapid weight gain!

How?

Each time we consume food, sensors in the tongue send a message to the brain "food is on its way!"

Then the brain sends a message to the digestive system "food is on its way!"

The digestive system then produces hormones and digestive enzymes to process the "food or drink on their way" and wait for it to arrive.
